The building is a 40,000sqm energy-efficient office complex. José Antonio was involved with the 1:50 Production Drawings for the main building, and related detailing. He was also involved with the design and modeling of the Entry Ramps to the parking level, with a particular regard for integration into the landscaping scheme. We know José Antonio as a very talented, reliable and hard working young architect. Within the office he was a bright and resourceful character. project UBA federal Environment Agency Building Office Building with public Auditorium, Library and Restaurant client Federal Republic of Germany area 40,000 sqm location Dessau, Germany period of construction 2001-2003
The site in Dessau, Germany. Conflict between the post-war modern architecture and the bauhaus modernism. A students and institutional city that believes in modernism and innovation.
The office for the Ministry of the Environment UBA present a case study for sustainable building. The location, in Dessau's former 'Gas Quarter', has been selected to demonstrate the possibilities of a brownfield site. Contaminated land will be treated, and the existing Worlitzer railway station and part of a former gas appliance factory will be integrated into the complex.
But beyond the environmental quality of the workplace and the sustainability of the buildings and their construction, this project addresses the sensual perception of its users in its provision of spaces of particular spatial and materials atmosphere.
The library is one of the most interesting parts o the building. It is half new and half reutilized space, an old classic structure readapted to hold the information area, and a modern organic triple height structure that represents the interactive area of research.
The Restaurant and Cafeteria placed isolated from the main building offers a space of relaxation and joy. A perfect coffee break place and a delicious lunch break area.

The form of the new building has been so designed that a large portion of the site remains accessible to the public park will be created for the city, and it will become the 'address' of UBA
The adoption of building materials according to their ecological suitability sets standards for future legislation.
This project in particular will benefit from the use of one of the largest heat-exchangers (which recovers heat from the thermal mass of the ground) currently available. The office spaces and the atrium work with a natural ventilation system, the exchange of hot and cold air through a mechanically controlled ventilation.
Beyond the environmental quality of the workplace and the sustainability of the buildings and their construction, this project addresses the sensual perception of its users in its provision of spaces of particular spatial and material atmosphere.
The auditorium is the result of the aesthetic and equilibrium on the design through all the building. Its soft organic shape and the creation of very useful interior space, gives this part of the project the personality and the idea on the project.
